Skiff Reader, Green e-book Reader
Soon paper newspapers and magazines era will end? Newspaper publisher Hearst will plan to sell digital newspapers and magazines that can be read by customers in an eReader device called Skiff Reader. Skiff Reader is ultra thin and has 11.5-inch (measured diagonally) touch screen which support either using finger or stylus. The resolution of the TFT flexible screen is 1200×1600 pixels with 174ppi depth. With weigh only about 18oz (498 grams) and 9×11x0.268 inches on dimension, we can bring Skiff Reader with so much ease.

In addition to the ultra thin screen size, Skiff Reader also has 4 GB of storage media, 3G for long range internet connection and Wi-Fi for short range internet capability. If 4 GB storage is not satisfying you, it provides an external memory slot for SD-card type. Skiff Reader use Marvell CPU as the main processor.
This device can also be used to listen to music or audio-books by its built in speaker or 3.5 mm standard audio jack, and equipped with a hard magnesium casing. Although using hard magnesium case, Skiff Reader remains flexible and can be bent over to a certain bending limit. As another gadget does, Skiff Reader is using rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with one week life time for thousands of page turns with periodic wireless use.
What is the green role of this green technology device? Yes, this green gadget is expected to replace the function of paper. No paper needed then no more woods chopped down so we can retain the environment balance.
